What?s the Executive Teaching
Executive teaching is one-on-one discussion between an government and behavioral training, including on issues of abilities and style in knowledgeable setting. Coaching has a number of advantages over other forms of leadership development opportunities reminiscent of classroom activities, group facilitation and steering counseling. Convenience, relevance and nature of self-coaching are important benefits that ought to be considered within the selection of utilizing the framework compared to different methods to attain professional progress and increased organizational effectiveness. Within the center of teaching are notions that the aims jointly determined by the executive and the coach that involves observation and evaluation of behaviors related to those goals and that these observations and assessments are shared. Teaching takes place in small steps, usually separated by weeks, and must be each intimate and flexible. While coaches can supply views on key issues and agenda for teaching, managers decide the training objectives and questions on what they want to be coached.

Three completely different views are important to an govt coach to consider in discussions concerning the performance of managers: the person government unit, work and organization. An preliminary assessment is to explore the executive self-awareness. A first step is to check the individual self-perception of the relevant strengths, weaknesses and areas for growth proposals with the perceptions of these around him. These comparisons provide a context and a foundation for dialogue and exploration. The agreement within the sense of self-perception and notion of others about the strengths and weaknesses instead harnesses the expertise of an executive and a community of professional contacts. Examine the strengths and weaknesses to higher perceive the habits of the chief enterprise interactions, as most individuals are inclined to repeat patterns that come most easily to them, leading to constructive and unfavourable results.
This repetition is the idea for outlining their style and see if there?s need for higher flexibility in the process. For instance, a departing govt and verbal fluency can be skilled to voluntarily maintain the discussions to allow their counterparts to exhibit much less? accident insurance specific their views. The second perspective focuses on the interpersonal interactions of executives in the work unit. A coach should take note of the quality and impact of an officer?s interactions with subordinates, colleagues or prospects, and those in high places. The gap between the intentions of the chief and the influence of their conduct on others is a key level of analysis. For example, the belief that the administration can offer an occasional comment or surface on a topic will stimulate others to think, while at the receiving end of communication you?ll be able to see the comment as an inflexible opinion. In this case, the space between the result of management and other problems within the government choice because others thought that the statements have been much less versatile than they had been purported to be. Coaches need to research the widespread conception of govt energy to examine the affect of those perceptions on the effectiveness executive.

The third perspective requires a broader, long enjoying time as a coach and government coaching the administration of the corporate over time. Specifically, the coach should guide the chief on problems with match between the manager and the cultural and political enterprise. The distinction between the cultural norms and magnificence of management provides a foundation for any misunderstandings of them in the company. For instance, in an organization with a strong accent will be activity framework that brazenly discusses the emotional points considered much less effective. The coach?s position is to help diagnose such conditions to stimulate the curiosity of administration participation in query

Auto Memory Manager (for Android)

I noticed my Motorola Droid 2 has been acting rather sluggish lately. I figured, whenever a computer needs a performance boost, one of the most obvious ways is to upgrade or at least, manage memory, so why not on my phone? As I am not very familiar with native memory management on Adroid devices, I found a useful app for managing memory, the free ad-supported? Auto Memory Manager (there’s also a?premium version without ads).? Without formally benchmarking my phone pre-and post-install of the app, it’s hard to determine how much it improves performance. In day-to-day use, my phone has less freezing and seems peppier since install. Once thing for sure, Auto Memory Manager provides me with good insight into how an Android device uses memory, and that alone makes it an attractive install.

How Auto Memory Manager Works
Auto Memory Manager works on rooted or unrooted phones. An app such as this is handy for those like me, who are trying to get more familair with Android memory settings. Yes, I can go into Settings–>Applications–>Running Services and see how much remaining RAM I have or see how much memory an app is using, but without a deep? of the Android OS, it can be hard to get more memory details.

There?s also the Android SDK and the Dalvik Debug Monitoring tool (DDMS). With it, you can pull a memory usage chart but the chart only gives generic information such as percentage of memory free or inactive and not much else.

Auto Memory Manager allows you to speed up your phone without having to use task manager. It?s a 1.2MB-sized app and can be installed on Android devices running versions 1.5 or higher.

Memory Thresholds
The app lets you set six memory thresholds to tweak performance:
Foreground Applications: Apps that you can currently see on screen. System and Phone are included in this group.

Visible Applications: Apps which are visible to the user but not running forefront.

Secondary Server: Apps and services running in the background. This group includes SenseUI and Launcher.

Hidden Applications: Apps that are not visible but are still running in the background.

Content Provider: Processes that provide content such as Contact and Calendar apps.

Empty Applications: Apps that are in standby and not doing any work.

You can set thresholds levels for a pre-defined group of applications. For instance, by setting the threshold level for the Empty Applications group to 40MB, if the phone?s available memory falls below 40MB then the system will kill empty applications to free up memory.

There are three threshold levels: Aggressive (the highest setting), Mild: (the average setting), and Default (whichkeeps you Android device’s original settings).

Auto Memory Manager?s default level is set so that Empty Applications are first to get killed when less than 40MB of memory is available. Foreground apps are given highest priority, only killed if there is less that 6MB of memory available. These settings are customizable.

There?s a ?Preferences? setting for further customization. Users can allow the app to send a developer an email when an error occurs as well as allow the collection of data usage.?

Auto Memory Manager also displays running processes and provides more details than the native ?Running Services? or when viewing cached services on my Droid. In Auto Memory Manager, you can see the Out of Memory priority (OOM) of each service. OOM is scaled from -16, the highest priority to +15, the lowest priority. Auto Memory manager also shows associated software running in each process. What?s really informative is that each process is grouped into one of the six threshold levels that? the app uses, so you can set threshold levels depending on what services and processes are most important.

I had only one issue; a crash when viewing processes. I had to force the app to close.

Rating Performance
It?s hard to gauge how much an app like this improves or doesn?t improve the way an Android phone runs, when only running it for a short time. I?ve had it running for a weekend. I tested how much better my phone performs with Auto Memory Manager than without it by firing up the usual apps I have running at once: Spotify, Twitter, Facebook, Alarm Clock, Email and also a graphics-heavy time management game that I love called Stand O’ Food which takes a lot of memory resources. This game usually freezes and locks up with all the apps I typically have running. I got decent gameplay, with? Auto Memory Manager running. The game still locked up on me, but only once. This can be attributed to the game?s code of course, but I did have less locking which would happen quite frequently.

This improvement leads me to surmise that Auto memory Manager provides some level of system performance gain. There?s a learning curve in that you would need to experiment with threshold levels to determine which configuration suits your phone?s needs best. What I really like about this app most, is that it gives users a?good look into the way memory is used; for that alone it is worth four stars.

Popularity of Bicycle Team Building

Nearly ten years in the past an Event Adviser in Dallas, tx asked my own colleague to generate a conference event with a philanthropic element. After a very good bit of proposition on all of us, the bi-cycle team building was made. The Dallas, tx program ended up being warmly obtained with some minimal glitches. Many of us rethought some of the components and I carried out the second actually bicycle team building events in Orlando for a big pharmaceutical business. The Mature Vice President sent me to convey, ?Your bicycle plan was the one best team building events event That i?ve ever attended. As well as let me tell you We have attended a great deal.?

While i last looked at online there were 80+ companies offering bicycle team building events events. Over time tens of thousands of cycles have been provided to children in need. As someone who does the second event ever kept and since that period has carried out over 2 hundred, I think We are uniquely qualified to answer the next questions: Why has this method become so popular? What are the important components that make the bicycle team building events successful?

1. Why so popular? A well-planned bi-cycle team building features three important components?

A. Fulfillment ? Team building events can be enjoyable, and at in conclusion of a bi-cycle team building your own group features accomplished one thing tangible. Participants feel feeling of pride right after coming together as a team and developing something important for clingy children.

B. Bikes : Everybody has received one. Take into consideration how you felt when you received the first bike. Recall the thrill associated with ownership and also feeling of liberty your bicycle gave anyone. Quite simply, motorcycles engender fond thoughts for most grownups.

C. Children ? The particular well-selected charity brings children who require bikes and often times have never owned one. The look inside a child?s face when they receive their first bike is one thing adults will not soon forget about.

2. Do you know the key elements? There are many decisions to be made effectively when planning a productive program.

Any. Venue : Making a decision the location where the event will likely be held is essential for two reasons. The first is to be able to insure ample square footage for the size of your party. Participants will likely be moving around and also assembling pieces. If they do not have enough space it can produce logistical problems. The 2nd decision is whether to hold the wedding indoors or outdoors. In the event the weather is very good, having the event outdoors presents participants a rest to the indoor meetings they have got likely recently been attending all day. A change associated with surroundings may foster changing your mood. Remember that temperature and also weather conditions where you stand traveling through can be drastically different than the location where the event will likely be held. Past due spring may be extraordinarily pleasurable in the Northeast, but uncomfortably hot and humid in Sarasota.

B. Charity coordination : It is remarkably desirable to do business with an organization which is accustomed to shifting their children within groups. They may be likely to have suitable transport and staff members to manage their own youngsters. They must select children of the appropriate grow older for the cycles being developed. Finally they have to need the cycles. I live in Orlando, a key meeting destination. Several charities are getting to be saturated along with bicycles. Unless you ask, they will not tell. I became recently told by a country wide known business with limbs here in Orlando, they had virtually a hundred new bicycles in storage. Your team building events consultant can find a childrens agency in need of bicycles.

Chemical. Secrets : Who knows what? I believe the idea adds an important element of ?POP!Inch to the event if individuals don?t know what they are going to be carrying out. So contacting the event Cycle Team Building pretty much gives away the storyline. I also firmly encourage the existence of the young children receiving their own bikes at the end of the event. The particular surprise gone through by the individuals who are creating bikes is actually surpassed from the excitement associated with meeting your children for whom the bikes were built.

Cycle Team Building is continuing to grow from a standing up start decade ago towards the most popular team building events event. Many of our large corporate and business clients accomplish events frequently for different divisions within their businesses. I was recently talking with a substantial healthcare consumer at the conclusion of a celebration and she explained, ?This is my own tenth bi-cycle team building and i also cry each and every time!?

SPANISH IMPRESSIONS: Spanish food & drink

by Robert Bovington

My first encounters with Spanish food were less than satisfactory. This was partly my fault for visiting places like Torremolinos, Benidorm and Arenal in the first place, partly the fault of the average British holidaymaker who mistrusted food produced anywhere south of the English Channel and partly the fault of the hotel chefs who, in order to appease the insular Brits, attempted to cook English-style food but were not very good at it.

Like most British holidaymakers who spent their two-week holiday in Spain in the 60′s and 70′s, I saved some of my hard-earned cash in order to spend it on a package holiday that included full board. After a few hours on the beach, I would make my way back to the hotel for a less than adequate lunch. Some days, I would obtain a packed lunch in lieu of the midday meal but this was mostly uninspiring – some unidentifiable meat or processed cheese sandwiched between slices of dry bread accompanied by a hard unripe peach. Even breakfast was abysmal – a couple of hard rolls with a modicum of butter and very sweet jam. In short, we Brits did not visit Spain, in those days, for its cuisine!

Today, some of us Brits are more adventurous and part of our holiday experience is sampling the local food whether we are in Barcelona, Bilbao or Bangkok. If, like me, you love Spain you will not be disappointed with the food. It is not all paella or calamares and chips, though I have to admit a fondness for both. There is tremendous variety and plenty of opportunities to enjoy a gastronomic experience.?

However, do not expect eating customs to be the same as in the UK. The Spanish do things differently to us Brits! Their hours are different – they take a nap in the afternoon, often dine in a restaurant after midnight and eat breakfast mid-morning. I have been patiently waiting in a queue in a bank or the doctor’s surgery and the receptionist has suddenly left, leaving a notice – “gone to breakfast – back in 20 minutes”! Usually, the 20 minutes turns out to be half-an-hour.

There are many places to eat from bars to gourmet restaurants. Living in Andaluc?a as I do, I am invariably offered a tapa whenever I buy a beer or a glass of wine and I have noticed that this excellent practice has spread to other regions. In most places a men? del d?a is offered which is usually tremendous value and typically offering a choice of first and second courses plus salad, bread, a drink and pudding for around 10? – about ?7! Restaurants also offer platos combinados – the Spanish equivalent of meat and two veg, as well as raciones which is a plate of one particular food. It is customary for a group of people to share two or three of these plates of food between them.?

On special occasions, my wife and I visit a posh restaurant and choose ‘a la carte’. My favourite dining experience, however, is to drive up to the little mountain village of Enix. In a restaurant there, I order ‘conejo con ajo’ – garlic rabbit – for my main course. I also order a dish of ajo blanco in which to dip the doorsteps of crusty bread. It only costs a few euros for this scrummy dish made from almonds and garlic but it is enough for four or five people to pass a pleasant interlude whilst waiting for their main course, especially when washed down with glasses of country wine! It is peasant food but delightful!

This sort of experience can be had all over Spain – unless you are the type of Brit who visits the Costas to gorge yourself on ‘Full English’ breakfast and British beer!

Every town and tiny village prides itself on its local gastronomy. There are regional differences in the cuisine offered but also local differences. The speciality of Ug?jar, a town in the Alpujarras, is ‘cabrito en ajo caba?il’ – kid in garlic. A few miles away, in the village of V?lor, their main speciality is ‘puchero a la gitanilla’ – a gipsy style stew.?

With even tiny villages providing their own specialities, I could not begin to compile a comprehensive list of Spanish food. Instead, I will just mention some of the dishes on offer.

Paella is, of course, one of the characteristic dishes of Spain. It is a rice dish and is usually garnished with vegetables and meat or seafood. The three main ingredients are rice, saffron, and olive oil. Paella is a speciality of Valencia where it is traditionally eaten on Sundays. However, these days, it is on menus in restaurants all over Spain. The name paella is Catalan for “frying pan”.

In the Asturias, a favourite dish is fabada Asturiana. It is often simply known as fabada and is a rich bean stew. Again, it is available throughout Spain. It is made with dried white beans which are soaked overnight before use. Pig products are also added – chorizo, morcilla and shoulder of pork. It is a heavy dish that is mostly eaten at lunch with bread and Asturian cider. Merluza a la sidra is another Asturian dish – hake cooked in cider.

When I was first offered gazpacho, I was a bit apprehensive. “Cold soup!” “Whatever next!” However, it is delicious. My Spanish friend, Jaime, often makes gallons of the stuff and gives me some. He uses the best fresh tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, olive oil and plenty of garlic. It can be eaten as a soup, possibly garnished with pieces of jam?n, with crusty bread or drunk from a mug as a refreshing drink. A relative of gazpacho is the aforementioned ajo blanco. It is another cold soup and is often the same sort of consistency as gazpacho. However, I prefer the ‘porridge-like consistency’ served up in Caf? Bar Almer?a in Enix. Ajo blanco is made from garlic, almonds, olive oil and bread. In M?laga province it is served with grapes.

Jam?n is probably Spain’s greatest contribution to gastronomy – not any old ham, mind you, but quality cured hams! Some 40 million hams are cured annually with the average Spaniard eating over 10 pounds of the stuff every year – that’s pounds weight because jam?n can be quite pricey, especially the very best Jam?n Iberico de Bellota. There is a vast range of jam?n available in Spanish shops and the difference in quality is identified by a number of factors including the type of pig, what they eat and the time of curing. Ninety percent of the jam?n available is ordinary cured ham and comes from white pigs. Phrases like jam?n serrano, jam?n curado, jam?n reserva and jam?n extra serve to identify these lesser varieties of cured ham. Having said that, these types of jam?n can still be delicious.?

Jam?n Ib?rico, is ham from the Iberian pig – also called Pata Negra. However, these particular pigs are not really black – they are grey coloured! Come to that, why do people call non-red wines white? They are mostly yellow! But I digress. The very best jam?n comes from Iberian pigs that feed on a diet of acorns – especially those lucky swine snuffling under the oak trees of Extremadura. The word ‘bellota’ is used to identify this variety, which produces some of the best ‘Jam?n Iberico de Bellota’ in Spain.

Spanish sausages are delicious. There are those that are similar to English and German bangers but I particularly like the red and black varieties – namely chorizo and morcilla. Chorizo is spicy; pork based and is a popular tapa. Morcilla is the Spanish equivalent of black pudding. Both can come in the higher quality Iberico variety and both are constituents of plato alpujarre?o – the Spanish equivalent of sausage, bacon, egg and chips, although pobres patatas are usually substituted for the patatas fritas.

Another Spanish favourite is tortilla de patatas – a sort of omelette made with – um – eggs and potato. It is sometimes called tortilla espa?ola to distinguish it from the tortilla francesa (French omelette).

Many of the dishes mentioned so far can be found in restaurants all over Spain but there are regional differences, which are often determined by environment and climate – like thick stews in cold mountain areas and lots of fish in coastal regions.

The specialities of Andaluc?a include pescaito frito – fried fish as well as the aforementioned gazpacho, ajo blanco and, in the Alpujarras, plato alpujarre?o.

Seafood is popular in Galicia and the Basque Country. Bacalao al pil pil – fried cod in hot garlic sauce – is a favourite with the Basques whilst in Galicia they favour pulpo – octopus. Caldo gallego, a hearty vegetable soup, is another favourite of the people of Galicia.

La Mancha is famed for its game dishes like rabbit stew and, of course, queso manchego. In Murcia, salted fish is popular whilst Extremadura is noted for its sausages but then it does have lots of pigs! And so it goes on – every region, town and village has its own specialities of delicious food which, of course, can be accompanied by the local beverage – Sherry in Jerez, Cava and Pened?s in Catalonia, Rioja in La Rioja, Cider in the Asturias, Valdepe?as in La Mancha. Of course, the drinks mentioned above are available throughout Spain and the rest of the World – just like the best of the food!
